This British period drama, written by Alan Bennett, is a heartwarming film that highlights the power of music to provide solace during dark times. Set in 1916 Yorkshire, the film tells the story of a local choral society trying to maintain a sense of community amidst the backdrop of World War I.   As the male choir members have enlisted, it leaves the demanding Dr. Guthrie to recruit teenagers. Together, they experience the joy of singing while the young boys grapple with their impending conscription into the army.
Doors at Hapstead Hall open at 7.00pm and the film will start at 7.30pm. Tickets are available to purchase from Fellows Bakersand the Ardingly News Shop (the old Post Office) and cost £8 each. You can also purchase electronic tickets in advance from CineMobile at this link. As always, refreshments will be made available before the film and during the intermission.
